26–30 April
Welcome to the second NUPEM Genomic Week!
Hands-on practical course in Genomics
Up to 10 researchers will be selected to participate on practical sections, where they will learn how to prepare a DNA library for genome sequencing on illumina and nanopore platforms.
The NUPEM Genomic Week 2026, held from April 26 to 30, 2026, at NUPEM/UFRJ in Macaé, Brazil, is a multidisciplinary scientific event focused on genomics and bioinformatics applied to health, biodiversity, environmental studies, and biotechnology. The program combines intensive hands-on laboratory courses with theoretical sessions led by nationally recognized researchers, fostering scientific training and the strengthening of collaborative research networks in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Program
The second NUPEM Genomic Week will include topics from: Genomics and Biodiversity, Plant Biology, Virology, Bioinformatic Analysis, Coral Symbionts, Genomics and Water Quality, Molecular Biology of Arthropods and a perspective from different applications of Genome Sequencing.
About NUPEM
The Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainability (NUPEM / UFRJ), named until December 5, 2018 as Center for Ecology and Socio-Environmental Development of Macaé (NUPEM / UFRJ) is a multidisciplinary research center of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), historically associated with UFRJ’s Institute of Biology. NUPEM/UFRJ aims to stimulate and strengthen UFRJ’s research, teaching, outreach, and technological development activities in the field of Biological Sciences in the different regions of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
About Macaé
